Perhaps you've wondered what sort of desert machine those scientists have been building.
A satellite? A weapon? One enormous orange blender?

Well, allow us to liquefy those rumors.

AAVARION is not a machine.
It is not a classified supercomputer. It is simply the name of Variant Labs’ most popular medicinal narcotic, developed to support pain relief, healthier sleep, and longer-lasting energy.
Manufacturing began in early Z.Y. 49, and since its introduction to select Zion markets, demand has exceeded even our most optimistic expectations.

Since its introduction, AAVARION has become one of the most widely purchased pharmaceuticals both within Zion and throughout surrounding territories. While most consumers are familiar with the finished product, the compound itself has required years of continued research.

AAVARION is most easily recognized by its orange luminescence. This glow is produced by a reactive characteristic our researchers have informally referred to as its soul property. The name is not meant to imply anything supernatural. It is simply the term that remained in use, after several earlier attempts to classify the reaction proved inadequate.

This is not unusual. AAVARION remains an active pharmaceutical project, and certain details regarding its extraction and stabilization are restricted.
The study of AAVARION has required a significant expansion of the Variant Labs facility. There have been rumors that Variant Labs operates a large containment facility. This description is misleading.

The secured chamber exists primarily for the compound itself. Before refinement, concentrated AAVARION can be hazardous when handled incorrectly. These precautions are necessary to ensure that each distributed formula remains stable and safe for public use. This process is not intended to make AAVARION difficult to obtain. It exists to ensure that each consumer receives the correct formula and dosage.
