ADRIAN JAMES CARTER II
LEAD CEO/DIRECTOR
Adrian James Carter II, 48, is the founder and acting director of Variant Labs, a scientist or even "madman" known for pushing research beyond its limits. Born into a world that had already placed expectations on him, Adrian grew up as the son of a respected lawyer, Adrian James Carter I, whose tough demeanor left a lasting influence on him. His father pushed him towards a more traditional future, hoping he would follow a practical path of becoming a lawyer like him, but Adrian’s interests were always elsewhere. From an early age, science became the center of his world. It was not just a career to him, but a calling; something he pursued with intensity and a constant desire to uncover what others overlooked.
Before leading Variant Labs, Adrian trained and worked under Patrick Addams at Variation Tech, where he developed his skills inside a system that often clashed with his way of thinking. Adrian’s ideas quickly made him stand out: ambitious, risky, and impossible for the people above him to keep brushing aside. After eventually taking over as CEO of Variation Tech, Adrian reshaped the company in his own image, transforming it into Variant Labs, a research institution focused on difficult and unusual studies.
Adrian is usually remembered for his work, but his late wife, Vivienne, was one of the few people who showed a different side of him. Before Variant Labs became what it is now, Vivienne gave Adrian something gentler to hold onto. Her death never really left him; it settled deep, shaping the colder, more distant man he became.
Adrian rarely speaks on this part of his life, and from what only few suspect, there’s more to Adrian than meets the eye.
Today, he remains a hands-on leader whose vision continues to define the laboratory’s direction & reputation as a place for those willing to push beyond the expected and into the unknown.
